Questions and answers for the written individual task - The Island
I think that the key theme to this movie raises a question that makes you think that the future is possible for this to happen (Human cloning and what consequences it has).
I think that the producer to this movie wants to visualize a future that is reasonable, and makes the viewers think of what can happend when such powerful force is laid in the wrong hands.
I think Dr. Merrick started this because it is an realiable source of money and fame and still very reasonable. I think that the movie is a message that mimmicks in a situation in real life (IRL). I am not surprized that Hollywood did a movie that contains human cloning because it is a popular topic that can be seen from many diffrent angels due to the positive side and the negative side. Hollywood takes every chance for a good movie wich they present through an abnormal topic. I think that the producer made this film so that the viewers can, unconsciously figure out that an idea such as human cloning isn’t a positive thing because it will eventually corrupt. The message in the movie is that genetic engineering is bad due to the value of the humans thoughts and intelligance is very good and shall not be used as tools for the original rase of humans.
I think that the violence in the movie is not a part in itself but is just an unwritten rule in the hollywood movie-making (such as marketing etc).
When Jordan said that ”the island is us” i think she meant that we live in in a paradise but we are to focused on the bad things that happens in the world.
